Description: With collaborators (John F. Clarkin, WCMC; Mark Lenzenweger, SUNY Binghamton; Steven Huprich, Univ. of Detroit-Mercy; Caleb Siefert, U Michigan Dearborn), we have contributed to shifting conceptualizations of personality
disorders in the DSM-5, which included an Alternate Model of Personality
Disorder (AMPD) likely to be adopted in future revisions, with a relatively
underdeveloped Criterion A assessing personality functioning, and a
well-developed Criterion B assessing personality traits. Regarding the latter, we have articulated the
limitations of Criterion B trait models; regarding the former we have developed
a rigorous measure for assessing Criterion A functioning:
